GARDEN OPEN FOR CHARITY
Andrew and Tessa Wells are most grateful to all who visited their four charity garden openings at Mere House in February, March and April.
The weather in February was kind enough for visitors to have tea outside among the snowdrops, though the daffodils had to put on a brave face for the cold and then wet in late March and early April. Since the beginning of the year a total of £2,240 has been raised for the National Garden Scheme. Funds are distributed to the Scheme’s beneficiary charities, including Help the Hospices, Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Perennial (the Gardeners’ Royal Benevolent Society).
In addition, the sale of home-made teas has raised a further £555 for maintenance of the fabric of St Lawrence’s Church, Mereworth.
The garden will be open for the National Garden Scheme for autumn colour on Sunday 21 October. We welcome groups of ten or more visitors at any time by appointment.
