GARDEN OPEN FOR CHARITY – 2020
We plan to open our garden at Mere House, off the Street, Mereworth, for the National Garden Scheme on Sunday 5 April, between 2.00 and 5.00 p.m. Any decisions will be made following Government guidance.
The garden has an extensive display of daffodils with many ornamental shrubs and trees coming into flower. In The English Garden magazine (March 2019, pages 44-50) Alexandra Campbell wrote an account of the garden’s development and the spring bulb display, illustrated by Marianne Majerus. Visitors can enjoy the woodland walk and a parkland walk round the lake, which dates from 1780, contemporary with the house.
Tea and home-made cakes will be available, sold in aid of St Lawrence’s church, Mereworth, again following Government guidance. Plants will be for sale. Admission is £5.00 and children can come free. Dogs on leads are welcome and the garden is accessible to wheelchairs.
We do hope you will come to enjoy the daffodils, and afternoon tea, with us.
Visits by appointment (ten or more people) are welcome at other times. Please telephone 01622 814608 or visit www.mere-house.co.uk.
